Somebody People, Denver’s beloved plant-forward restaurant on South Broadway, is giving Denverites a reason to look forward to Mondays. With the launch of the monthly Somebody’s Enoteca, the team invites you to slow down, savor something special, and experience a European-style wine bar paired with chef Justin Freeman’s crave-worthy vegan fare.

For $40, the Enoteca Experience offers a guided tasting menu with small plates. Or, you can opt for a more spontaneous experience with a glass at the bar and a few snacks. As for the Mondays when Enoteca isn’t going on, look for a line up of special wine dinners and chef collaborations. But for now, here’s what you can expect on the next Somebody Enoteca on July 21.

Australian Wine and European Inspiration Leads Enoteca

Inspired by the laid-back charm of Melbourne’s wine scene, and modeled after the sidewalk bars of Paris, Rome, and Madrid, Somebody People’s co-owner Sam Maher envisioned Enoteca as a space where wine takes the lead. This once-a-month experience lets the bottle steer the conversation while the food plays a perfectly paired supporting role.

At the heart of it all is a love for great wine, good company, and exceptional vegetables. The kitchen, rooted in Mediterranean flavors and driven by sustainability, crafts a seasonal menu that showcases both ingredients and wines. Think bright, savory small plates that nudge you into ordering just one more glass to see what else the pairing might unlock.

Adventurous imbibers should try their luck with the blind tasting challenge. For a measly $10 you get a mystery half pour. Sniff, swirl, and taste to guess the grape, region, and vintage. If you get it right you take the bottle home. To tempt you further, all bottles are 50% off during the event. So if, or when, you fall in love with something, it’s yours for a steal.

Wines To Try at Somebody

Somebody People boasts one of the most distinctive wine lists in the city, leaning heavily Italian with a splash of Aussie natural charm. Maher is your guide through the menu both on Monday nights and throughout the week. But if you want a head start, here are four bottles we recently tried that we can’t stop thinking about.

La Collina ‘Lunaris Secco’ Sparkling Malvasia Dell’Emilia

Start the evening with this vibrant pét-nat from biodynamic farmers in the Reggio Emilia area. Made with Malvasia di Candia and fermented with frozen grape must, it’s bursting with orange blossom, lemon zest, and buttered brioche. On the palate, it’s crisp, lightly honeyed, and dry, with hints of spiced apricot and citrus. It’s a sensory wake-up call in the best way.

Cirelli ‘La Collina’ Biologica Vino Bianco

A breezy blend of Pecorino and Trebbiano from Abruzzo that’s equal parts laid-back and expressive. Fermented in stainless steel, this white offers notes of lemon peel, wildflowers, and juicy apricot, with a soft texture and a subtle nutty finish.

Rieslingfreak No.2 Polish Hill River Dry Riesling (2022, Clare Valley)

A standout from Australia’s Clare Valley, this dry Riesling balances zesty citrus and green apple with floral aromatics and sleek minerality. Elegant, precise, and refreshingly long on the finish, it’s a reminder that Aussie wine can go toe-to-toe with European classics.

Monte Bernardi Fiasco Vino Rosso

This unoaked Italian red blend comes in a charming 1-liter fiasco (yes, the iconic straw-covered squat bottle) and is all about easy-drinking joy. Juicy red berries, a whisper of spice, and a touch of wild energy make it perfect for passing around the table. That is, if you’re feeling generous.
