Today, we’re bringing you the origin of the popular seasonal dish created by Irish immigrants: corned beef and cabbage. Millions of immigrants had escaped the great famine in the late 19th century by fleeing to the Americas with little to no money. Being frugal with their income, they deviated from their pork and potato diet to beef and (essentially a filler) cabbage.
